A Few of Our Favorite Things

Leadership: Develop Unlimited Talent
All Blogs

Dec 20, 2016 | Blog

For some of us The Sound of Music is a favorite treat at this time of year. In many ways, Maria was like an Executive Director – overworked, making clothes out of drapes, running up and down mountains –  and all through it all remaining cheerful! She even sang about her favorite things!

So as we close this year, we wanted to share with you some of our favorite things (to the tune of one of our favorite songs…)

Happy holidays.

Knowledge philanthropists who give their hours and minutes
Consent agendas and board member term limits
Operational funding without any strings
These are a few of my favourite things

Funders who invest in leadership and capacity
Executive directors and board chairs with audacity
The joy that supporting the community brings
These are a few of my favourite things

When the grant’s denied, when the rejection stings
When I am feeling sad
I simply remember my favourite things
And then I don’t feel so bad

Passionate people and inspiring missions
Plans and projects that come to fruition
Strategic plans that lead to program upswings
These are a few of my favourite things

Our committed sector and all my team members
Folks who are moved to give every December
The memories of every impact that cling
These are a few of my favourite things

When the grant’s denied, when the rejection stings
When I am feeling sad
I simply remember my favourite things
And then I don’t FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL… SO BAD!
