Legal Lunch ‘N Learn: Recent change to the Income Tax Act will allow registered charities to make grants to non-qualified donees

Thursday, January 12 @ 12:00pm

In collaboration with Pacific Legal Education And Outreach Society (PLEO)

Over the course of the last year, thanks in large part to the tireless efforts of Senator Ratna Omidvar, efforts to meaningfully improve how Canadian charities operate have come to fruition.  Join Pacific Legal Education and Outreach Society (PLEO) and Vantage Point for a time-critical update on the CRA’s recently released draft guidance.

In the session we will review the Draft Guidance and how these changes support charities to establish equal partnerships with non-charities, empowering the voices of BIPOC organizations, while still ensuring accountability and transparency

Audience:

1. Not-for-profit leaders looking to learn more about potential changes proposed for registered charities making grants to non-qualified donees.

2. Sector leaders with the capacity to engage in the public consultation process on the draft guidance from CRA.

Session Objectives:

1. Articulate what the draft guidance from CRA may mean for Registered charities making grants to non-qualified donees

2. Identify next steps to engage in the public consultation process

3. Identify recommended perspective to strengthen the current CRA guidance
