Planning & Facilitation

Vantage Point’s half to full-day board retreat can offer a much needed opportunity for your board to develop as a team and re-engage with the vision and mission of the organization.

Engage Vantage Point to support the planning and facilitation of your board retreat, incorporating strengths-based team development and opportunities to discuss the board’s roles and responsibilities in governing the organization. As an input to the board retreat, Vantage Point can administer a board self-evaluation as part of the planning process.

Team Development

Effective teams are critical to organizational success. Understanding your leadership skills and personal attributes will positively impact the effectiveness of your board. The team building process will begin with a strengths-based assessment, which provides specific information about the current mix of skills and strengths on your board. From this our facilitator will lead you though team-building activities focused on improving communications and dealing with conflict.

 

Board Self-Evaluation (Optional)

Kick-off your board retreat process with an opportunity for each board member to reflect on their board experience. Vantage Point will customize the online board self-evaluation, disseminate the survey, collect results, and provide a summary of responses. The survey will provide key insights into priority areas for board development.

Individually Customized

Our development and delivery model is nimble, flexible, and in tune with your organizational culture and context. Based on your unique goals and situation, we will create a session that delivers relevant and collaborative learning that is engaging and cost-effective. Our staff and volunteer facilitators, or “knowledge philanthropists”, are proven experts in their fields and can address various topics.

Team Building & Operational Planning

Vantage Point’s full-day Staff Retreat (Team Building and Business Planning) offers a much needed opportunity for your staff to develop as a team, re-engage with your organizational values and build an operational plan that drives your organization’s success.

A Foundation of Shared Values Drives Behaviour, Performance & Results

Reinvigorate and renew the relationships of your team members by engaging Vantage Point to support the development and facilitation of your next planning session. Over the course of the day, Vantage Point leads exercises and conversations to:

  • EReveal and Define Values;
  • EDefine Success; and
  • ECraft a 12-month operational plan.

Operational Planning

With these values and measures of success as a foundation, we will facilitate a planning session with your team to create a 12-month operational plan that articulates activities, responsibilities, key milestones, and performance objectives.

This full-day session is an excellent way to combine team building with the operational planning that is so critical to your organization’s success!

Organizational Culture

The importance of organizational culture in supporting a high performing team and impactful organization can not be underestimated. In this session, we will support you to explore and build your organizational values and identify the unique behaviours that drive organizational success.

To determine existing values, or the development of possible new values, we will guide you through the following steps:

  • EReveal value concepts: what are our core principles?
  • EDefine values: what specifically do they mean for your organization and team?
  • ELiving the values: what does living or not living these values look like?
  • EOutcomes and success: what outcomes will drive performance?
