Board Fundamentals: Roles and Responsibilities (eLearning)

Workshop Description

Vantage Point’s most popular training session, Board Fundamentals: Roles and Responsibilities, is now available as an accessible self-paced eLearning course, an invaluable introduction to what a board of directors is, what their key responsibilities are, and key resources to get you or your board started.

The asynchronous eLearning course is available for purchase for $50 per person, providing 60 days access. The eLearning course covers much of the same content as our live workshop and custom training on board roles and responsibilities, in a self-paced, virtual format.

As a self-paced eLearning course, we encourage participants to allow approximately 1-3 hours to complete the course, reviewing videos, transcripts, text, additional resources, and reflection questions. We encourage notetaking throughout if helpful for your learning style, as well discussion with other board members about your questions and learnings.

Course Curriculum:

1. Introduction
2. Overview of Non-Profit Boards
3. Five Governance Responsibilities
4. Board Self-Management, including practices that build effective boards
5. Review

How to access the eLearning course

If you are a new user of Thinkific:

1. Click on the link to open the course page. You will be directed to Thinkific.
2. Click on the ‘Register’ button.
3. Enter your email address, first name and last name.
4. Create a password for your account – this will allow you to return back to the course whenever you like. Note: password must be at least 8 characters.
5. You will be directed to the start of the course.

If you are a returning user to Thinkific:

1. Click on the link to open the course page. You will be directed to Thinkific.
2. Click on the ‘Register’ button.
3. Enter your email address. A message should appear that reads: ‘Welcome back! Enter your password to continue.’
4. If you do not remember your password, you can have a reset link sent to your email address.
5. Once logged in, your dashboard will appear with any previous courses you’ve taken.
6. Click on ‘Board Roles & Responsibilities’.
7. You will be directed to the start of the course.
