Vantage Point is a British Columbia non-profit that serves other BC non-profits. A settler-led organization with our main office on the unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples, Vantage Point provides support to BC’s non-profit sector as well as programs that support sector success through convening, facilitation, and advocacy. Vantage Point's work spans across the territories of over 200 distinct First Nations in BC.

Role Summary

The Marketing Coordinator supports the team to translate Vantage Point’s organizational strategy, communications and programs into meaningful messages, promotional campaigns, and creative content. Reporting to the Director of Operations and Communications, this role coordinates day-to-day planning and execution of marketing and communications, ensuring Vantage Point’s story and impact are consistently and strategically shared across platforms.

The Marketing Coordinator develops creative content, coordinates campaigns and projects, and ensures messaging that raises awareness of Vantage Point’s work across BC’s non-profit sector.

  • Director of Operations and Communications 

Works With:   

  • Operations Coordinator, Program Coordinators and Specialists 
  • Program Directors and CEO 
  • External marketing partners, contractors and vendors 

    Employment at Vantage Point

    This is a full-time, permanent position (35 hours/weekly) with extended health benefits, including enrolment in the Municipal Pension Plan after 3 months, and upon successful completion of a probationary period. This position is entitled to 3 weeks’ vacation per year and includes a paid one-week office closure in late December. The position is in job range C according to our People Policies which has an annual hiring range of $54,042.66 - $60,047.40 depending on experience and internal equity.  

    We operate with a hybrid working model that combines remote work with on-site office work during a regular work week for full-time employees. A minimum of 2 days per week in office is expected for this position. Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be required. 

    Qualifications and Competencies

    • 3+ years of professional experience in marketing or communications roles 
    • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience) 
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to create impactful external marketing communications, tell stories, and build strong working relationships 
    • Strong design and visual communications capabilities and knowledge, with significant experience using Canva for graphic design. Adobe Creative Suite experience is considered an asset 
    • Detail-oriented with an ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and ensure quality and accuracy in all outputs 
    • Experience creating, coordinating, and publishing multimedia content across multiple channels, including websites, videos, social media, newsletters, blogs, and reports 
    • Ability to collaborate with teams to support events, campaigns, and manage internal content requests 
    • Self-starter with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams, contribute ideas, and support alignment on campaigns and content 
    • Experience working in or with non-profits preferred, particularly in marketing, community engagement, or program support 
    • Knowledge of CRM platforms and digital tools, such as Salesforce, SharePoint, Zoom, WordPress, and social media management tools 
    • Basic data management and reporting skills, including tracking analytics and preparing performance reports 
    • Experience mentoring interns, contractors, or volunteers is an asset

    Role Responsibilities

    Communications and Content Creation: Create messaging and content across all channels in Vantage Point’s voice and according to our style guides, including for website, newsletters, blogs, social media, programs, and reports, etc. 

    • Draft copy in promotion of all of Vantage Point’s programs, services and initiatives 
    • Create all media using brand assets and templates; set up files, polish presentations and internal documents; and ensure consistency across all materials 
    • Produce and edit multimedia content including short video content, podcasts, blogs, visuals, infographics, digital resources, and other promotional materials 
    • Support the creation and distribution of public-facing communications including press releases, articles, important announcements, and production of our major reports and publications 
    • Source stories, images, and testimonials from staff and partners and convert into meaningful content for all platforms and publications 

    Publishing and Promotion: Coordinate the distribution of communications to our audiences and community members. 

    • Manage the content calendar, related projects, and coordinate distribution and scheduling of all content, posts and campaigns 
    • Create media kits and supportive materials that enable others to share our stories 
    • Upload files, publish pre-drafted content on social media platforms, newsletters (Mailchimp), and WordPress  
    • Additional marketing-related support as needed, including coordinating with printing vendors, etc. 

    Community Engagement: Track online engagement, social media mentions and tags; engage with followers and community members, responding to comments, messages, etc.  

    Brand and Asset Management: Ensure quality, accuracy, and brand and style alignment in all outputs and maintain brand templates, style guides, and related resource materials. 

    • Maintain photo, video, and media libraries, documents, CRM and website date entry and inventory, with consistent filing and tagging, including ensuring Alt-Text is used and our standard accessibility measures implemented 

    Collaboration & Coordination: Collaborate with program teams and external partners to promote Vantage Point’s services, events and opportunities. 

    • Collaborate with team members to understand program goals and audiences to translate program priorities, sector research, trends, and feedback into messaging and creative content 
    • Respond to internal and external content requests and manage intake processes for stories and materials 
    • Maintain relationships and liaise with partner organizations to share brand assets and align communications for collaborative campaigns and in support of our media relations strategies 
    • Support event communications and materials, sponsorship coordination, etc. (e.g., BC Non-Profit Leadership Conference, engagement events, and campaigns) 
    • Mentor and coordinate with interns, contractors, students, or volunteers working on marketing tasks 

    Website Management: Website design, updates, and backend management, including coordinating with Operations Coordinator, tech consultants and website hosts. Manage SEO and online presence. 

    Monitoring and Analytics: Monitor analytics, prepare performance reports, and recommend improvements based on data. Set up reports and dashboards, pull metrics from platforms and provide initial summaries.

    Role Summary

    As the convener of the BC Non-Profit Network (BCNN), Vantage Point undertakes non-profit sector research, community engagement, policy development, advocacy, and government relations in collaboration with the BCNN’s Steering Committee.

    Within Vantage Point’s Engagement and Advocacy Team, the Research and Knowledge Mobilization Specialist leads the research activities of the BC Non-Profit Network and facilitates knowledge mobilization of both primary and secondary data on emergent trends and issues impacting non-profits across BC. In addition to conducting the State of BC’s Non-Profit Sector Survey, Sector Snapshot polls, and other applied research initiatives, this role manages community data access, and develops engaging knowledge products, reports, and presentations to support sector-wide advocacy and increased sector awareness.

    The Research and Knowledge Mobilization Specialist works closely with team members, the BCNN, and research partners to increase research engagement, and to ensure alignment, relevance, and value of research activities undertaken.

    Employment at Vantage Point

The position is in job range F, according to our People Policies, which has a hiring range of $61,500 - $68,300 depending on experience and internal equity.

    We operate with a hybrid working model that combines remote work with on-site office work during a regular work week for full-time employees. A minimum of 2 days per week in office is expected for this position. Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be required. Travel across BC (maximum 20%) and occasionally across Canada are required for this role.  

    Qualifications and Competencies

    • Master’s degree in a relevant field such as social science, public policy, data management, community development, or a related area, or equivalent professional experience.  
    • At least 2 years of demonstrated professional experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods, data management, and knowledge translation or mobilization. 
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to present and explain research to a wide variety of audiences in an interesting and organized manner.  
    • High aptitude for technology, including Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with survey tools and data analysis software. 
    • Strong project management skills and the ability to advance multiple priorities in a dynamic, fluid environment; familiarity with Asana an asset.  
    • Fun, caring colleague who is committed to relationship building and is a team player.  
    • Solid organizational skills with a keen eye for detail. 
    • Experience in and passion for BC’s non-profit community is an asset.

    Role Responsibilities

    Sector Research 

    • Lead the planning and execution of applied research projects, including working with interest-holders to define objectives, methodologies, timelines, and deliverables.
    • Incorporate innovative and equitable applied research practices and methodologies to capture diverse perspectives within the non-profit sector.
    • Lead the design and dissemination of the State of BC’s Non-Profit Sector Survey and the Sector Snapshot polls.
    • Analyze and interpret data trends to provide insights that inform policy development and advocacy activities.
    • Support research projects to address emergent non-profit sector issues or data gaps, or to support advocacy initiatives.
    • Coordinate, manage, and facilitate meetings with research panels, funders, partners, and working groups.
    • Work with provincial and federal research partners, academic institutions, and interest-holders to share data, align research activities, and adopt best practices to ensure research relevance and consistency.

    Knowledge Mobilization 

    • Produce a State of BC’s Non-Profit Sector Report from sector survey findings, including working with contractors and external reviewers.
    • Produce timely summary reports of Sector Snapshot Polls.
    • Supports sector monitoring and communication of curated resources and reports to Vantage Point’s team and wider non-profit community.
    • Translate primary and secondary data into accessible and impactful knowledge products and resources to enhance understanding of research findings and their implications for non-profit organizations.
    • Track research-related metrics such as response rates and survey click rates to inform research engagement planning.
    • Create data visualization charts, dashboards, infographics, or other knowledge products targeting different audiences.
    • Present research findings online and in-person to a variety of audiences across BC, including non-profit organizations, BCNN Steering Committee members, regional networks, municipalities, elected officials, and the public.
    • Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing team to ensure research outputs and knowledge products are disseminated effectively through various channels (e.g., social media, newsletters, website)

    Other Responsibilities

    • Support in-person regional convergences and community engagements.
    • Support funder reporting and evaluation of the BC Non-Profit Network initiative.
    • Draft updates, blogs, and communications pieces for the greater Vantage Point community.
    • Provide thought leadership and support with the development and execution of the annual BC Non-profit Leadership Conference.
    • Supervise students, interns and other project-based team members, on occasion.
    • Other duties as assigned.
