From Top-Down to Shared Leadership: Sociocracy for Nonprofits
From Top-Down to Shared Leadership: Sociocracy for Nonprofits
Nonprofits often juggle a tricky balance: making decisions efficiently while also including the voices of staff, board members, volunteers, and community. Too often, the result is either top-down decisions that don’t build buy-in, or long meetings that drain energy without moving things forward.
Sociocracy combines consent-based decision-making, shared leadership, and ongoing feedback loops to create governance that is both effective and participatory. In practice, this means clearer decisions, stronger accountability, and more connection between the people doing the work and the people guiding the mission.
From nonprofits and cooperatives to grassroots networks and schools, groups around the world are using sociocracy to strengthen collaboration and impact. Join us for an introductory Lunch and Learn with Lana Parra, a Sociocracy Trainer and Consultant who will share how sociocracy can help nonprofits align their decision-making with their values, strengthen trust, and free up more energy for mission and impact.
